Distribution of brown recluse spiders in the USA

There is some disagreement about where the brown recluse spider can be found in USA. It is common belief that the brown recluse is not found in states such as California and Florida, but it seems as if the brown recluse spider is expanding into those states as well.

Occasionally some specimens will accidently happen to be a place where they are not supposed to be. This may be due to transportation of the spider into the area or that the species is slowly migrating into that area.

It seems as if the brown recluse spider is slowly expanding into areas where it has not been present previously. If this is due to global warming and or climate changes in the USA is hard to tell.
